    Which barcode format should I use?

    For general use, CODE128 - it encodes any ASCII text and is compact. For retail product labels in Europe, use EAN-13; in North America, UPC-A. CODE39 suits logistics and ITF suits bulk packaging.

    What values do EAN-13 and UPC-A accept?

    EAN-13 accepts 12 or 13 digits - supply 12 and the check digit is calculated automatically. UPC-A accepts 11 or 12 digits with the same behavior. Letters or symbols are rejected.

    Why does ITF require an even number of digits?

    ITF (Interleaved 2 of 5) encodes pairs of digits, so the value must have an even length. If your value is odd, prepend a leading zero or use CODE128 instead.

    Are the generated barcodes scannable?

    Yes, when printed at sufficient size and contrast. Keep a strong bar/background contrast, avoid shrinking bars below 1px at print resolution, and use the PNG export at its full resolution for physical labels.

    What is the difference between PNG and SVG export?

    PNG is a raster image suitable for labels and documents. SVG is a vector format that scales to any size without quality loss, ideal for print design, cutting machines, and further editing.

    Is my barcode content sent to a server?

    No. Encoding runs locally in your browser with jsbarcode loaded on demand. The value never leaves your device.
