About Favicon Generator

Type up to four characters - letters, digits, or an emoji - and the icon preview updates instantly. Choose a background color, text color, and shape: circle, rounded square, or square.

Download the icon as a PNG at 64, 128, 256, or 512 pixels. The 64px version works as a browser favicon, while larger sizes suit app icons, bookmarks, and shortcuts.

FAQ

Favicon Generator FAQ

Find answers to common questions about creating and exporting favicons.

How do I use the generated icon as my website favicon?

Download the 64px or 128px PNG, name it favicon.png, and place it in your site root. Then add <link rel="icon" href="/favicon.png"> to your HTML head, or reference it from your framework's metadata configuration.

Can I use an emoji in my favicon?

Yes. Paste any single emoji into the text field - it renders on the canvas like any character. Note that the rendering depends on the visitor's emoji font, so results may vary slightly across devices.

Which export size should I use?

Browsers request favicons at 16x16 but scale up, so 64px is a good balance. Use 256px or 512px for app icons, PWA icons, and high-DPI shortcuts.

Why is my text truncated?

Icons stay readable by limiting the text to 4 characters. Longer text would shrink below legibility at 16px display size.

Can I make an .ico file?

Not directly - this tool exports PNG, which every modern browser supports for favicons. If you need .ico for legacy browsers, convert the PNG with an online converter.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Icons are rendered locally on a canvas in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
